Goliardos es un espacio dedicado a los estudiantes pobres pícaros de la, hasta ahora olvidada, carrera de Traducción-Interpretación de nuestra casa de estudios. Para aquellas personas que en este momento se pregunten el significado de la palabra “goliardos”, podemos decir brevemente que el término se refiere a aquellos clérigos de vida licenciosa que se dieron a conocer por toda Europa con el surgimiento de las Universidades durante el siglo XIII. Esta palabra proviene del francés antiguo gouliard, «clérigo que llevaba vida irregular», que a su vez es una alteración del bajo latín gens Goliae, propiamente «gente del demonio», del latín Golias «el gigante Goliat», «el demonio». Dejaremos la invitación abierta para que descubras qué tipo de Goliardo eres tú.
La revista es un espacio digital para la publicación de cuentos, relatos y todo tipo de textos; tanto en lengua castellana como inglesa, con el fin de mejorar la redacción de los alumnos en ambos idiomas y otorgarles un mayor grado de confianza al momento de redactar textos. Además, habilitaremos una sección para la, en ocasiones, tediosa tarea de creación de glosarios que tantas veces le quita más que sólo el sueño al traductor.
Aunque para muchos el traductor es sólo un puente entre el escritor y el receptor, la verdad es que para poder desarrollarse magistralmente en la difícil tarea de redactar textos el traductor sí es y debe ser un escritor en potencia. Es por esta razón que consideramos de vital importancia sacar a flote el escritor escondido que cada estudiante de esta bella y traicionera profesión lleva dentro de sí.

What is Goliards?
Goliards is a website created for the picaresque students of the until now underestimated Translation & Interpreting program of our house of studies. For those of you who are wondering right now what Goliards stands for, we can briefly say that the term refers to the clergy who carried an immoral way of life. These goliards lived during the fourteenth century and appeared, along with the universities, in the public eye of Europe. This word comes from the French term gouliard, «clergy who carried an irregular way of life»; this term also derives from the Low Latin term gens Goliae, «evil people», which in turn comes from the Latin term Golias « the giant Goliath», «the devil». Now is your turn to decide what Goliard you hide deep inside.
This is an online publication for you to upload tales, short stories, and every kind of texts, both in English and in Spanish, in order to enhance the writing skills and, therefore, give the students confidence when it comes to writing a text. Moreover, a section will be available for you to create and share glossaries, a time-demanding task that sometimes can be very boring for the translator.
Although many people consider the translator just as a bridge between the writer and the audience, the truth is that in order to masterly manage the difficult task of writing the translator is and must be a potential writer. This is why we think it is of great importance to push into the open the hidden writer that lies in every student of this beautiful and treacherous profession.
